About

My name is Lisa and I am the business owner, artist and creator behind Pompompilli a unique mini brand of eclectic ruralistic  design. Obviously I am also chief tea maker, administrator and head of sales. I am glad you are here and encouraged that you are interested in how Pompompilli came into being!

I live in rural Derbyshire with my partner and our three children, a couple of dogs, a duck and a few chickens. This said I am a true proud ‘Yorkshire lass’ from up the road. I often think this reflects in my work and who I am with an honest authentic approach, ‘say it as it is’ and all that is how we express ourselves up north.

Always an artist from as early as I can remember, a landscape still sits proudly on my parents living room wall painted by me age nine( I won’t tell you how long ago that is ). Art has threaded itself through my life with a BA hons in Surface pattern and print followed by a career designing wallpaper and fabric followed by a long career with an iconic paint brand as their Senior  Commercial Colour designer and consultant. Here I had the opportunity to work on some great prestigious projects and design alongside some of the worlds very best designers.

Home and community are always at the centre of my world and I have been happy to lend my creative skills to others in so many different ways over the years, logo design , sewing , costume design, interior design, all for free to friends, family and community  organisations and received in return, such wonderful feedback. The most common being ‘why do you not work for yourself doing all this stuff !’.

When the opportunity came along in 2022, it was time but which direction should I travel. It would have been simple to continue in commercial designing but it was not stretching or even fun anymore, so I started to look further. All my life I have had a love of sculpting and using my hands to form 3D pieces in a variety of mediums such as clay, fabric or even chicken wire and after dabbling in jewellery I found a new fresh unknown space to create in. Using silver took me away from the familiar colour thread that drove my past career. It was exciting and refreshing and so POMPOMPILLI was a thing. I already had a style and a hand that previously I have always fought against and tried to reinvent but now I embrace and indulge in what this style brings to my workbench whether as jewellery or print.

Inspiration is all around me as my studio is an old wash house nestled in a hillside overlooking an old damson orchard ( I am so lucky in Jam season ). Mice live in the stone walls, the fox wanders down every evening and the badger has a snuffle for worms in the early hours, and we sit on the back step as the bats dive above us catching dinner, so this is where it began along with reading fanciful bedtime stories to my children of mice having parties in hedgerows and ice skating on puddles.

Now my children are older I keep these times close to my heart working and sharing my creations with you. I now have time to sell my wares at artisan events at the weekends and talk to you about almost anything creative or just a chin wag. Pompompilli is my income (not quite the corporate role) but it offers me much more wellbeing as an artist and maker. The support of my customers is huge to me and I definitely happy dance with every sale. I honestly see every fox or mouse off to its new forever home with a big warm hug.

I hope that you enjoy my work and I hope even more that you purchase this time or next or just keep visiting until something catches your eye. Don’t forget I can also make something unique and special ‘Just for you’ visit my bespoke commission page.

Thank you for finding out more about me and Pompompilli and please get in touch if you have any questions, comments or feedback. I am always evolving and never static so therefore it is great to hear from my customers.
